On August 13, 2025, H.E. Mr. Sumate Chulajata, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Kingdom of Bahrain, made a courtesy visit to H.E. Ambassador Khaled Yousef Al-Jalahma, the Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss strategies to enhance cooperation between Thailand and Bahrain. The key points of discussion included:

1. Promoting Trade and Investment between Private Sectors: A Thai business delegation is scheduled to visit Bahrain in August 2025 for business matching, marking the sixth visit of Thai business delegation since the Ambassador took office in December 2024. The delegation will meet with representatives from the Economic Development Board (EDB), the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), and the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA). Additionally, both parties explored potential opportunities for Thailand's involvement in the Food City Project, which is initiated under the patronage of Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister. As a leading food producer and exporter, Thailand can make significant contributions to this project. It is worth noting that Thailand and Bahrain signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Food Security Cooperation in 2012.

2. Advancing Existing Agreements: Both nations are committed to progressing on 23 agreements that are currently signed and in effect as well as moving ahead on the agreements that are still under negotiation. Notably, one MOU, which is ready for signing, involves the Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies and the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs in Thailand.

3. ASEAN Committee in Manama (ACMB): As the Chair of ACMB, the Ambassador requested the Ministry's continued support for upcoming ACMB initiatives, including the ASEAN Ramadan Bazaar and ASEAN Sports Day.

4. Community Outreach for Thai Nationals in Bahrain: The Ambassador discussed collaborating with relevant Bahraini agencies to organize knowledge-sharing seminars aimed at promoting employment and business opportunities for Thai nationals in Bahrain. Planned events include:
1) Labour Clinic on August 10, 2025,
2) Investment Clinic on August 18, 2025,
3) Seminar on Health & Wellness on August 21, 2025.
Esteemed speakers will include executives from the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), and representatives from the Ministries of Industry and Commerce and Health in Bahrain. These events will be delivered in a hybrid format.

During this meeting, the Ambassador also provided a thorough update on the current situation along the Thailand–Cambodia border, including factual information that the Royal Thai Embassy has shared related documents with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain earlier.
