On 14 April 2023, Ko Kai School (Thai language and cultural school for children) held a "Songkran" festival at the Royal Thai Embassy to celebrate Thai's Traditional New Year, from April 13th - 15th.

The Songkran festival consists of "Song Nam Phra," which is a ritual of bathing and cleaning the Buddha statue with scented water; it is believed to be a way of paying respect to the Buddha statue and bringing good fortune to the person; and "Rod Nam Dam Hua," which is a ritual of pouring scented water on elderly family members' palms to pay respect and receive their blessings.

Special thanks to our Ko Kai School and the parents for co-organizing and supporting such activity to preserve Thai customs and impart cultural knowledge to Thai children who reside in Bahrain.
